Mojito Cream Jello Shots Recipe

I do love a good jello shot. They’re fun. They’re tasty. Often mine include whipped cream.

This is a fairly basic recipe. The recipe on the jello box calls for 2 cups boiling water + 2 cups cold water. We’re replacing the cold water with rum and mint simple syrup.

Don’t be scared off by the simple syrup. It is mint, sugar, and water. We grow our own mint, but you can also get it in the fresh herbs section of your favorite grocery store or farmer’s market. For details on how to make simple syrup check out this recipe on our farm site. As an added bonus, if you have extra mint simple syrup you can make a gloriously refreshing mojito cocktail.

HOW TO MAKE MOJITO CREAM JELLO SHOTS

WHAT YOU NEED

• 2 cups Water
• 1 large box Lime Jello
• 1 cup Bacardi Limón Rum
• 3/4 cup Mint Simple Syrup
• Whipped Cream
• 10 4oz cups

WHAT TO DO

[1] boil WATER
Pour 2 cups water into saucepan. Place on stove over high heat.

[2] add JELLO
Once the water is boiling, turn off the heat and pour in contents from the jello packet.

[3] STIR until dissolved
Using a fork or whisk, stir jello until it is dissolved – usually about a minute.

[4] add SIMPLE SYRUP
Let cool just slightly, then pour in 3/4 cup of prepared mint simple syrup.

[5] add RUM
Next, pour in 1 cup of Bacardi Limón Rum. Stir.

[6] POUR into cups
Pour mixture into 4 ounce cups. They are available at food warehouse stores as well as Amazon. If you are serving the jello shots at home, lids aren’t necessary. But if you’re bringing them with you to an event, lids make traveling much easier.

[7] REFRIGERATE until firm
Place jello shots in the fridge until jello is set – usually a few hours.

[8] spray on WHIPPED CREAM
Just prior to serving the jello shots, top each one with whipped cream.
