For a twist on Halloween or Valentine’s Day fun, try this Haunted Heart Jello Shot. Flavor wise, it’s is one of my favorites.

We’re going to layer this one with bright red jello on the bottom topped by dark maroon jello. And for added fun, place a cherry between the layers and scatter black sugar on top.

WHAT YOU NEED

• 13 4oz cups
• 13 Maraschino Cherries
• Black Sanding Sugar or Black Sprinkles

LAYER 1

• 1 6oz box Strawberry Jello
• 2.25 cups Water
• 1 cup Vodka

LAYER 2

• 1 6oz box Black Cherry Jello
• 2.25 cups Water
• 1/2 cup Vodka
• 1/4 cup Peach Schnapps
• 1/4 cup Raspberry Liqueur

WHAT TO DO

LAYER 1

[1] boil WATER
Pour 2.25 cups of water into saucepan. Place on stove over high heat. Bring to boil.

[2] combine JELLO & WATER
Pour contents from strawberry jello packet into mixing bowl. Add hot water. Using a fork or whisk, stir jello until dissolved.

[3] add VODKA
Let jello mixture cool just slightly, then add 1 cup of vodka.

[4] POUR into cups
Pour mixture into cups, filling about half way.

[5] REFRIGERATE until almost set
Place jello in fridge for about 40 minutes.

PREPARE LAYER 2

[6] boil WATER
Pour 2.25 cups of water into saucepan. Place on stove over high heat. Bring to boil.

[7] combine JELLO & WATER
Pour contents from black cherry jello packet into mixing bowl. Add hot water. Using a fork or whisk, stir jello until dissolved.

[8] add VODKA
Let jello mixture cool just slightly, then add 1/2 cup of vodka.

[9] add PEACH SCHNAPPS
Add 1/4 cup of peach schnapps

[10] add RASPBERRY LIQUEUR
Add 1/4 cup of raspberry liqueur

[11] let COOL SLIGHTLY
Set black cherry jello mixture off to the side and allow to cool slightly while you add cherries to layer 1

ADD THE HEART

[12] place MARASCHINO CHERRIES
Using a spoon, create a divet in the strawberry jello of layer 1. Place cherry in the divet.

POUR LAYER 2

[13] POUR into cups
Carefully pour black cherry jello mixture into cups, on top of the strawberry jello and cherry. Fill to top of container.

[14] REFRIGERATE until firm and ready to serve
Place jello shots in the fridge until they are firm and you are ready to serve.

SERVING

[15] sprinkle with BLACK SUGAR
When ready to serve, add just a touch of black sanding sugar or black sprinkles to the top of the jello
